So it begins – The Official Vancouver Whitecaps Offside Blog
By: Lee | May 12th, 2009
My name is Lee Haber, and I love soccer. I found out about the Offside blog a few years ago, and I have been enjoying reading the blogs ever since.
I am very interested in the growth of Canadian soccer. What really sparked this interest was when Toronto was awarded an MLS team. I have been following very closely our club teams and the development (sometimes regression) of our national teams. I noticed that there were already blogs for Toronto FC, the Montreal Impact, but none for its most storied club, the Vancouver Whitecaps.
I have many reasons for writing a blog dedicated to the Whitecaps. I love the city of Vancouver and I have many relatives who live there (more on this later). The first soccer game I saw live was a Vancouver 86ers game. The team will be playing in MLS in 2011 in a beautifully renovated BC Place (and hopefully someday a spectacular Waterfront Stadium). The club has arguably the best youth development in North America, that I believe will help make the club a powerhouse and our national team contenders.
On a personal note, my cousin Marcus Haber (notice the last name) is playing for them right now (and has already scored for them). For me, this blog is an opportunity to practice my writing by writing regularly.
So there you have it. Now the fun stuff begins!
