Frustration and Excitement
By: Lee | June 1st, 2009
As a Whitecaps supporter and blogger, the last week has been frustrating. First of all, as a supporter, the Whitecaps lost to Portland 2-0 on Saturday, being burned several times on the counterattack and missing some golden chances (keep the volleys down Marcus!). As a blogger writing about the Whitecaps, I have been unable to do any player ratings and make any serious comments about the past two games. I blame a lack of torrents and a poor internet connection (stupid Bell).
Looking ahead, I am excited for tomorrow’s game against Toronto FC. According to the Championship’s tie-breaking procedure, here are the possible scenarios:
- If the Whitecaps win by two goals or more, we win the cup!
- If the Whitecaps win by one goal, Toronto must not beat Montreal by more than two goals
- Anything less, Toronto wins the Voyageurs Cup
It’s hard to predict who will win this game, as both teams have been Jekyll and Hyde this season. There are some reasons to fill optimistic that the Whitecaps can win, as TFC were thrashed 3-0 by the Houston Dynamo. On the other hand, the Caps will be missing captain and midfield general Martin Nash due to suspension.
You can catch the game live on Sportsnet at 10:30 EDT (7:30 PDT).
Be Champions!
