Insult to Injury – Whitecaps 1-2 Montreal
By: Lee | June 22nd, 2009Yeah, I’m kinda late to the party on this one. Well, it hasn’t been a great week to be a Whitecaps supporter. We all know what happened and I’m not the kind to soak in self-pity. The Whitecaps will move on and be a stronger team because of it.
Anyways, back to the game at hand. I actually missed the game (I was in a 12 hr leadership program, really good btw) but from the highlights it was definitely clear that we missed both Charles-first-name and Charles-last-name. Montreal players had way too much time and space on those goals.
In a way this game vindicates Dos Santos’ decision to bench players on Thursday. The plan may have ‘worked’, if you accept the long-lasting taunts from your humiliation at the hands of you civic rivals and your owner feeling ‘ashamed’ of his team .
On a positive note, the boys never gave up and had some brilliant chances. Hopefully the effort can show on the scoreboard in Cleveland.

It was actually a pretty unstellar performance by both teams…the Whitecaps could have easily tied that game. I’m even willing to admit that had both Charles’ been on the pitch, Vancouver would have won this game.
