New Whitecaps Crest – Call for designs
By: Lee | August 12th, 2009
As 2011 draws closer and closer, my excitement grows larger and larger. I believe that when the Whitecaps enter MLS in 2011, they will not only be one of the most successful clubs in MLS, they will be one of the most successful in all of North America (that includes Mexico). Let’s go over the things that prominent and successful soccer clubs have:
I think most of you will agree that the Whitecaps need a new crest. That said, the Whitecaps crest isn’t terrible. It just looks very cartoony, something that’s OK for a minor-league team, but not acceptable for a that wants to be taken seriously.
So I am inviting you guys to share your ideas for what the Whitecaps new crest. You can send them
to lee(underscore)haber8@hotmail[.]com. I’ll be posting them on this blog, as well as some other ones I’ve found on the net.
For reference here is the current logo as well the old NASL logo:

Funny, I always thought that the Whitecaps was a reference to the white snow-capped mountain tops…and not water. I’ll give it a shot anyway!

I am hoping for this change too. Going back to a more serious/traditional crest like the original one would be better. But maybe with slightly updated graphics. The current one is ok except for the on-an-angle look with the font seeming to go in the distance to the right, not to mention the childish looking font. The cartoony V on the bottom needs to go too. I look forward to seeing new ones.
