Player Ratings:
Nolly (GK): Some good saves and his positioning was good as well. Had no chance on both Miami goals.
Charles (D): Was playing a decent game, despite being injured. But the fighting with infighting is unacceptable and disgraceful.
Knight (M): Shouldn’t have left his post on the corner, but made up for it with his massive throw in. Some nice deliveries, but also some awkward touches.
Hirano (D): Solid on defence. Played with it less deep in his defensive zone. Moved the ball well up and did especially one-on-one with an attacker who was a lot faster than him.
Gage (M): I thought he played a great game. Made great tackles, passes and almost scored a sensational goal.
Nash (M): Solid game. Moved the ball well and good deliveries. His leadership is going to be tested this week.
Toure (M): Another good game from Toure, but not nearly as dangerous as in other games. Still, no big mistakes as far as I can tell.
Martin (D): Had a great game. Played some great through balls and had a decent shot too. Tired towards the end. Subbed.
Reda (D): Scored a goal off a fortuitous bounce. Nearly got caught a few times defensively, but his fouling/the linesman saved him. Decent performance overall.
Haber (F): Was tenacious and won some great battles. However, his passing and touch was a bit off today. Subbed.
Gbeke (F):This would be an up red arrow if it weren’t for his disgraceful conduct at the end.
Subs:
James (F): His rust showed, but there were certainly some promising glimpses.
All Other Subs: Sealed the game for the Whitecaps. Nothing great or awful.
