Wins don’t get much bigger than this – Whitecaps 2-0 Miami
By: Lee | August 23rd, 2009The Whitecaps get a crucial victory in their push for the playoffs.
It seemed like it would one of those home games that have been all too common this season: the Whitecaps dominate but end up getting nothing out of the game. But then, Charles Gbeke came up big for us and scored an impressive looping header to give us a 1-0 lead.
It was also good to Randy Edwini-Bonsu return from injury. Not only did he appear, he also showed why he is one of Canada’s top young prospects by burning a defender and assisting the second goal.
With the win, the Whitecaps pull six points clear of Miami for the final playoff spot. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a good run leading into the post-season.
